The Joint Technology Initiative (JTI) known as Electronics Components and Systems for European Leadership ECSEL Joint Undertaking (ECSEL-JU) is a public-private partnership, whose calls are co-financed by the participating states, Spain among them, and by the European Union to through the joint venture ECSEL JU.
The ECSEL JU will contribute to develop Electronic components and systems (ECS), by establishing a programme through a two-dimensional matrix of key application areas and essential technology capabilities, the ECSEL Focus Areas:
ECSEL RIAs & IAs are large project with TRLs ranging between 3 and 4 for RIA (Research and Innovation Action) projects and 5 and 8 for IA (Innovation Action) with a very important industrial component.
The ECSEL JU has recently open the 2020 call for proposals under three type o actions RIA (Research Innovation Actions), IA (Innovation Actions) and CSA (Coordination and Support Actions), with the following deadlines:
H2020-ECSEL-2020-1-IA and H2020-ECSEL-2020-2-RIA
- at 17:00:00 Brussels time (CET) on 5 May 2020 for Project Outline stage
- at 17:00:00 Brussels time (CET) on 16 September 2020 for Full Project Proposal stage.

Soros Gabinete has successfully participated in ECSEL call for proposals, and is managing some of their projects. As an example, COMP4DRONES, the lighthouse project lead by INDRA SA, funded with 14,5M€ from the EU & State Members- join together a consortium of 49 partners with the aim of providing a framework of key enabling technologies for safe and autonomous drones. It brings to bear a holistically designed ecosystem from application to electronic components, realized as a tightly integrated multi-vendor and compositional UAV embedded architecture solution and a tool chain complementing the compositional architecture principles. This project is supported by the administrative office of Soros Gabinete.
